Flower Fascination

Written by Tina Baraya in grade 8!

Flowers, the specialized part of an angiospermous plant that occurs singuraly or in clusters, possess whorls of often colourful petals or sepals and bears the reproductive structures involved in the development of seeds and fruit, or so is the definition. Really, flowers at the very least are your typical spring beauties, a thing that should be nurtured but are shoved to the side by the bigger things in the world. As soon as they come, they go, revealing their vibrant petals once and wilt away. Flowers, they are really something to hold to. Ok then, that’s that, see ya next year, this is the end of my over exaggeration, that’s it for Bison news! The end. Or is it? Most common flowers leave us, as I already covered in my excessively long and boring thirty second speech, but one 99-million-year-old flower decided to stick around for quite a while. The unfortunate thing had to experience the extinction of an entire race, perfectly preserved inside a chunk of amber, who knew? This cretaceous discovery is leaving scientists and botanists to ponder yet again from all over the world, claiming this flower is one of the oldest preserved. So, next time you see a flower maybe, just maybe, watch where you're stepping because who knows, this very flower may be passed on for generations to come.
